Coming to a close...

When I started this project I found it quite daunting and to be honest a big pain in the ass but once I had got over the hurdles of Unity LWRP being horribly buggy and having to rebuild the project a couple of times it started to become more enjoyable. Following my Trello board and keeping up with the blog as I went was always a motivation boost as I could see how I was progressing but was almost something I wasn't going to keep up with. Whilst developing 'Aka 'Aka Island I read Adam Savages, Every Tools a Hammer which included many useful bits of advice I could follow not only in physically projects but also digital too.
He emphasises using lists in everyday life to not only organise but also to give yourself motivation with everything you cross off. No mater how small the task and even if its something you've already done and forgot to add, being able to cross it out give you more energy to cross off another.
Cleaning up at the end of the day may sound easy but its one we all forget. Adam Savage talks about how he use to have messy work spaces in which he thought promoted a more creative making atmosphere but as the years went by he found himself more overwhelmed with it all. Once he started to take more care of his space by organising and most importantly cleaning up at the end of the day meant that when he next went back into that space he was fully ready to start working. This is something I now find crucial with any digital project, without cleaning up at the end of the day I come back to a mess of unnamed files and folders all over the place, unsure on what I can delete or not. But, now I always make sure to rename everything and delete what can be deleted, backup my files and sometimes leave notes on key bits of information on what I was doing last.
Doing these things are not only crucial when developing the project but also when it comes to a close. I feel that now the project has ended and all tidied up, if I ever want or need to come back to the project then I will have no trouble understanding and picking up from where I left off. In the next post I will show a bunch of images I have taken of the game and have also added a download page to the website linking to the itch.io page where you can download the game for free.
